service development

Ermha has experienced significant development and growth in both innovative programs and staff over the last couple of years.  From this recent growth together with greater political and community support for mental health initiatives we were prompted to review and reconsider the organisation’s internal structures and systems to ensure our successful development through this fast changing environment.

In recognising that our number one task as an organisation is to ensure high quality and effective services to clients, carers and the community, a whole-of-organisation review was undertaken by clients, carers, staff, management and the board to ensure that Ermha both creates and manages this change which we saw necessary.  The end of this review process saw the creation of a new division at Ermha, The Service Development Unit.

Providing supportive assistance to all Ermha programs, the Service Development Unit was created to act as an internal development and consultancy team focusing on innovation, business and service development, organisational policy and procedures, continuous quality improvement, compliance and strategic planning.

It will be the role of The Service Development Unit to ensure that regular review processes are undertaken and work is dedicated towards:

  • Capturing the skills and knowledge possessed by Ermha clients and workers and weaving this resource into everything we do
  • Embracing innovation particularly as articulated by service users, carers and staff
  • Continually invigorating Ermha’s organisational culture basing it on collaboration, open-mindedness and quality of service
  • Empowering staff and broadening decision-making patterns to reinforce the power staff and clients have to create change
