participation

Recovery is a personal process and at Ermha we support people according to their individual goals. One of our catch phrases is that we encourage supportive and not supported relationships with our clients. We do “with” and not “for”. This is because we see recovery as an active process.

Many clients, at first, are hesitant to become active recovery participants and this is a natural response. People who are experiencing a mental illness often withdraw from activities and relationships because of the fear and anxiety they feel about being judged or shunned. But at Ermha we work with people, not mental illnesses. And when clients begin to discover their strengths and abilities (discoveries that participation can reveal) they are better able to reach their goals.
