Feeling overwhelmed? We’re here to help.
If you’re over the age of 18 and feeling overwhelmed, you can talk to us.
Our Distress Support Service is here to give you free, practical support when things feel too much. We’re not a clinical or emergency service — but we’re here to listen, support, and help you feel more in control before things get more challenging.

What to expect at the Distress Support Service
At the short-term Distress Support Service, you’ll find a calm and safe space where you can talk to someone who understands. We’ll work with you for two to three weeks to figure out what’s causing your distress and support you to find ways to manage it.
We’re part of the Darebin community and have strong connections with other services that can support you too. If you need more ongoing support, we can connect you with trusted local services.
If you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you can talk to an Aboriginal support worker. You can yarn with someone who gets it, whether you’re looking for cultural connection or support outside of the community.
How much does the Distress Support Service cost?
Nothing, it is free to access.
Do you need a Medicare card to access the service?
